Become an ActiveCITY Leader

Based on our stakeholder engagement starting in March 2019, the community has identified six pillars to frame the Playbook 2030 planning. Each pillar will be anchored by a working group and an Playbook 2030 workshop.

We have developed a series of tools to enable you and your community to get involved as leaders in ActiveCITY planning. Download the Community Engagement Toolkit below for additional details.

Tool 1: ActiveCITY Community Engagement Survey

The ActiveCITY Collective has developed a community engagement survey to better understand Calgarian’s views of the active economy and opportunities and challenges for the future. We are working with community partners to distribute the survey to thousands of Calgarians through forums such as email or existing communication mediums such as e-newsletters. If you or your organization can share the copy and link below, this will provide us with enormous support in making ActiveCITY the largest public engagement process in our city’s history.

Tool 2: CO-HOST AN ActiveCITY Planning Workshop

ActiveCITY workshops are standalone three-hour community gatherings organized and facilitated by the ActiveCITY Collective. The workshops are open to the entire community. If your community or organization would be interested in partnering to co-host an ActiveCITY workshop between February and September 2020, please contact David Legg at dlegg@mtroyal.ca. In general, your role will be to identify a location and fill the room with community members. We ask for workshops to have a minimum confirmed attendance of 25.

Tool 3: HOST AN ActiveCITY Planning Module

ActiveCITY modules is a 90-minute workshop embedded in an existing scheduled meeting, such as an annual AGM or community meeting. If your community or organization would be interested in partnering to incorporate an ActiveCITY module between February and September 2020, please contact David J. Legg at dlegg@mtroyal.ca. We ask for workshops to have a minimum confirmed attendance of 25.

Tool 4: ActiveCITY Self-Directed Module

The ActiveCITY module is a minimum 60-minute workshop facilitated by a community partner. If your community or organization would be interested in hosting an ActiveCITY module between February and September 2020, please contact David Legg at dlegg@mtroyal.ca.

Attend the 2020 ActiveCITY Summit in November.

The 2020 ActiveCITY Summit to be held in November will focus on the sixth pillar. Ensuring that the regional active economy is anchored in an integrated, actionable and shared vision. Details of the Summit will be announced this summer.
